The VISION OF "COME, GROW, CELEBRATE"

The Church of the Good Shepherd announces the beginning of a Capital Campaign Drive!  Something is happening at our church, something we all need to be a part of. It is exciting to be part of a growing Christian experience, and you are all invited to participate.

God is leading your Vestry and Capital Campaign committee with a VISION of our church, a church where you COME to worship your God, a church where you GROW as a Christian, a church where you come to CELEBRATE all the good things that God has given you. It is a vision of growth and friendship; of lots of  people gathered together on Sunday; and of prayer raised up to God.

Why is the church launching this campaign?

The Vision for the Church of the Good Shepherd’s house and God’s people includes freedom from the worry of debt. We need to have the funds necessary to operate the church without a deficit budget, and we have a current debt that needs to be paid so we are free and clear. A three year deficit cushion is also needed for the operation of our church.

Our church was built in the 1950’s before the age of air conditioning. We want to make the church comfortable for services by installing an air conditioning system, so all will be encouraged to come. Many of the windows of the church do not operate correctly anymore, and they need to be replaced with more energy efficient windows as part of the air conditioning project.

Our church needs an elevator for better access from the Sanctuary to the fellowship hall. 

People need to be able to participate in all church activities, including the ones in the fellowship hall. Right now, two flights of steps have to be dealt with, which can be difficult to do.

We all need shelter from the stormy blasts, whether they are from nature or from life’s experiences. Our church is such a shelter, and we seek protection and encouragement from within. Our church provides a roof over our heads, and the shingles on that roof needs to be replaced. It needs to be solid to protect us in our journey.

When and how is this all going to happen?

We want to complete our campaign by mid May, 2006. This campaign is for a three year period, which means we will all have three years to complete our pledges. Our goal is to raise approximately $230,000. Between now and Easter, you will all be hearing more about how you can participate in this vision. 

We want you to COME to church, we want you and our church to GROW, and we want to CELEBRATE all the good things Almighty God has given to each of us.
