Children and Youth
Children and youth are important to the life of Good Shepherd. We worship together in a multi-generational community and we also have specific time for children and youth to grow to love God in heart, mind, soul and strength.
Children’s Ministry
We offer Sunday school to preschool and elementary age children during our 10:00AM Sunday service. Children begin the service with their families, and then go downstairs for a Gospel story and learning activiites, returning to their families for the celebration of Communion in the second half of the services. We use the "Celebrate the Good News" Children's Chapel Curriculum for our church-time Sunday school. We have some wonderful volunteers bringing the Gospel to life for kids during the 10am service.
Youth Ministry
Our Youth group is designed to provide middle and high school youth with service, worship and social activites, such as horseback riding, kayaking, game nights and discussion around issues that affect today's youth. We have combined with the other Episcopalian Churches in Sioux Falls to do a wednesday night program called Rite 13 (Middle School) and Journey to Adulthood (High School). We meet at Calvary Cathedral (500 S. Main Avenue, Sioux Falls, SD) from 6:30pm-8:30pm for a very interactive look at our faith and why we believe what we do. Come join us and bring a friend! Additionally, many of our youth serve at the altar, as readers, and as Sunday school assistants.
Stepping Stones
The Stepping Stones programs, offered through Faith Inkubators, meets at various times during the year and helps children and their parents understand and practice the concepts of blessing one another, praying together, reading the Bible, confession, forgiveness, and more. Our goal is to support families as they practice their faith together at home as well as in church.
