Mission and Outreach
Moving Assistance Program (MAP)
Members of Good Shepherd launched a unique ministry to the Sioux Falls community, offering free moving services for people seeking a better standard of living. We serve the elderly, people with special needs, women and children leaving abusive situations, and others. Opportunities to help with a move are available year round at their website.
Salvation Army Sunday Dinners
Members of Good Shepherd spotted a gap in the community services and stepped up to help the Salvation Army feed hundreds of people on Sunday evenings. Dates are announced on the church calendar and volunteers are welcome. A special cash offering is taken on the last Sunday of each month.
Heavenly Comforters

The Heavenly Comforters are a group of women and young girls committed to outreach within Good Shepherd with a goal of spreading the warmth of Christ – literally.
Over 58 quilts have been made and presented to the Red Cross since inception, families who experienced flooding in Iowa have been assisted, and over 50 dog blankets have been made and donated to the Sioux Falls Humane Society. Hats, gloves, mittens and socks were collected and delivered to Achieve, Children’s Inn and Children’s Home Society for Christmas of 2009.
In addition, Heavenly Comforters creates extra items for sale to raise money for quilting materials, including quilts, receiving blankets, sweaters, and more.
