Celebration Event

The Celebration Event was held
Sunday, April 23 at Skelley's.
Erv Pfeifer and the 8 o'clockers sponsored
the event.

A proud Father Tim MC'd The program
Getting the event off to a singing start was the wonderful local gospel group, the Masters Voice Quartet
Our "fearless" Campaign leaders, Marlene and Larry Weires showed us how to go from
"Impossible", to "Difficult", and now bordering on "Done".
Bob Farris the campaign consultant from Ministry Max in Atlanta told the audience how he was using the
experiences of Good Shepherd's campaign as a wonderful example to his other clients of how a campaign
should be planned, organized, and executed.
Bill Lenker told the group how he had "bragged" to an associate
(also conducting a Capital campaign) how well Good Shepherd was doing
after the Leadership event (Over 50% of the total).
Over 200 adults and children were in attendance--It was a sea of yellow COME, GROW, CELEBRATE tee shirts.
Here they were watching a DVD presentation on Good Shepherds' history and upcoming challenges
developed and presented by Monte Forsberg as part of the Media team's effort.
Following the buffet luncheon, the children went off to another room for activities designed especially with them in mind
And what better entertainment for the adults than having our own "Alex Trebeck" (aka Rose Barker) provide a live, rip-roaring Good Shepherd Jeopardy right on the stage of Skelly's.
Our own California-grown Melissa Fountain directed this special program. The "ably" prepared contestants were Ruth Daucsavage, Father Tim, and our "whiz kid" winner, Becky Kaiser.  Our mistress of "Validation" was none other than Rose's mom, Junebug.
The kids tried valiantly to get their seniors to join in the singing, but few did. Anna O'Hara Led the group.
Not to be outdone by the grownups, the kids prepared a poster of the Tree of Life where the leaves were
made using their hand-prints, and built and filled their contribution boxes, then brought
the poster and their contribution boxes to the event.
The adults placed their pledges on the Tree of Life. You can see some of the kids' pledge boxes below the poster.
As an aside, the Media team covering the event were too busy eating to take pictures of the scrumptious buffet.
Erv and his teams (Some of Skelley's staff and the 8 o'clockers) did a marvelous job!!
